Did You Do It Yet?

Tara C. Loucks,
ARNP-C, Clinical Director, Colon Screening Program
The CHP Colon Screening Program is 5 years old, number 1 in the nation, and-most important-saving lives.

Did you vow to participate in colon screening this year? If you did (or didn't) and haven't followed through, the right time is now. Ask the incredible 71% of CHP members age 50-80 who have been screened. Screening is convenient (no referral needed), effective, and a life-protecting step for you and loved ones. (Age 50 is recommended to begin screening, or earlier with a family risk.)

More and more members realize the value of screening for this second most deadly cancer: early detection can be life-saving. When our program began in 2002, CHP had 25,243 members aged 50 to 80 and only 47% had been screened. Today there are 43,334 members in that age range, and 71% have participated in colon screening. That's almost 31,000 people,. No wonder the CHP Colon Screening Program leads the nation's health plans in the percentage of members screened according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

To schedule a screening or to ask any question, call the program directly at 850-523-7350 or call your primary care physician. Preventive health steps are wise moves.
