Meeting Disasters, Large and Little
The Brogan Museum's exhibit City of Wonders: When Disaster Strikes is an engaging, informative look-for all ages-at the facts, fallacies, and remedies of disasters . . . from flu pandemic to kitchen fires to 'mixed up' medicines.
The first phase of City of Wonders dealt with weather disasters. The new exhibit takes on catastrophes like epidemics and bioterrorism, as well as the far more probable hazards in your own home. Don't panic. The creative, interactive presentations will arm you with understanding and practical responses.
CHP is sponsoring the GloGerm(r) Station, about handwashing. Freeze-a-Sneeze does just that, in mid-air, with high-speed photography. Another exhibit demonstrates food and water needs during quarantine.
Life's Little Disasters highlights senior safety, brain health, and active lifestyles-with lessons of precaution and empathy for every age. From the hazards of electricity to coping with limited sight, the exhibit focuses on safety. Medicine Mix-Ups, courtesy of CHP, provides helpful answers to common questions about prescription drugs.
