First in Florida, First in Our Region!
"The top ranking that fills CHP with pride comes from the trust our members put in us to protect their health."
Nancy Van Vessem, M.D.
Chief medical officer
Capital Health Plan
Capital Health Plan is the top-ranked health plan in Florida, according to the annual report of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Here's another first: this year, CHP's sterling performance was part of a U.S. News & World Report cover story.
U.S. News-widely respected for its national rankings of hospitals and colleges- joined with NCQA, the major accrediting body for managed-care health plans, to produce the October 2005 report naming "America's Best Health Plans."
CHP ranked first not only in Florida, but also first in its regional grouping, which includes nine southern states and the District of Columbia. It earned sixteenth place in the entire United States. More than 500 plans were examined. Capital Health Plan received the premier five-star rating for members' access to care and preventive services, as well as excellent four-star ratings for member satisfaction and treatment.
"CHP is very proud," said Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., chief medical officer of Capital Health Plan. "The people we take care of are our families and our neighbors in our community. These national rankings are based on clinical performance, member satisfaction, and accreditation information. But the top ranking that fills CHP with pride comes from the trust our members put in us to protect their health."
"CHP's top grades demonstrate the focused effort we have made to ensure our members receive high-quality, affordable health care. Thanks to the work of our health care community and members, we will continue to provide a world-class level of health care right here in our community."
John Hogan, CEO

CHP's Medicare Plan in Nation's Top Four
CHP members with Medicare gave Capital Health Plan the honor of a full five-star ranking in overall member satisfaction. With five stars also for prevention and four stars for access, CHP was number four nationwide for its Medicare plan.
The achievement coincided with the debut of Capital Health Plan Advantage Plus for Medicare. This new program includes Part D Prescription Drug benefits and more benefits than original Medicare and is offered exclusively to people with Medicare Part A and Part B who live in Leon, Wakulla, Gadsden, and Jefferson counties. (For information, please call 850-523-7441.) We are gratified to provide people with Medicare in our four counties with access to an affordable, easy-to-understand option that will include the new Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.

That's why Capital Health Plan expresses a heartfelt thank-you to our members, our staff, and the entire medical community that provides such high-quality care. We depend on you. Professionalism, service, and commitment are the reasons for CHP's high rankings. Our members' health is our ultimate reward.
