Tallahassee Fitness Festival

Capital Health Plan was present at the 6th annual Tallahassee Fitness Festival at the Leon County Civic Center on January 26, 2013. The event featured several vendors that promoted healthy lifestyles and showed attendees the benefits of regular exercise. Visitors to the CHP booth enjoyed fresh fruit and information on the Capital Health Plan fitness reimbursement.

Capital Health Plan was there to promote our CHP Champions program that aims to get students, grades 3-12, moving and experience the benefits of regular exercise while developing healthly lifestyle habits. Examples of how Capital Health Plan, along with Titus Sports Academy, showed how students engaged themselves in a fun, positive environment as they become more confident in their physical skills to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. Information was also on hand on how to enroll in the CHP Champions program at local schools.

3rd Annual Oyster Cook-Off

Capital Health Plan enjoyed being amongst Franklin County's Third Annual Oyster Cook-Off this past Saturday, to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department. There was a large turnout from people across the region! At the event, Capital Health Plan offered healthy seafood recipes, seed packets, fresh fruit, local provider information, and our health plan information for festival attendees.

The Friday evening prior to the event, there was a preview of the oyster-related silent auction items, along with a sampling of the Apalachicola Bay's tasty bivalves. The actual cook-off on Saturday started at 11 a.m. Contestants were encouraged to enter with their favorite recipe and the judges looked impressed with all the entries this year. All forms of oysters were be available to taste: raw, steamed, fried. The day's activities also included live music and dancing performances.

Capital Health Plan proudly serves Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty and Wakulla counties in the state of Florida.

Jingle Bell Run

Capital Health Plan was the presenting sponsor for the Jingle Bell run at the 25th Annual Winter Festival in downtown Tallahassee. The race included 3,000 runners with over 10,000 attendees to the parade and festivities. Many festival attendees could be seen throughout the streets of downtown Tallahassee in their Jingle Bell run t-shirts, excited for the race to begin. Capital Health Plan staff was present with the famous fruit stand throughout the festival, offering a healthy snack alternative for festival attendees and handing out healthy recipes.

 

Turkey Trot 2012

To encourage active living throughout the holiday season, Capital Health Plan attended the annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 22! Capital Health Plan is pleased to continue its partnership with the Turkey Trot, as presenting sponsor, to promote health and fitness in the community. Capital Health Plan staff were present at the event to greet runners with the famous fruit stand and hand out healthy recipes. Over 6,000 runners participated in the day's races making it the largest race to date.

The more healthy nutrients you take in the better your immune system can fight germs and keep you from getting sick. Remember, that drinking water and exercising regularly also helps keep the body's resistance up.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k

Capital Health Plan came out in record numbers to support the community and the cause in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer! As the presenting pink sponsor, Capital Health Plan was present with our fruit stand booth distributing healthy snacks for over 2,500 participants. The Capital Health Plan walking team had over 200 members. Thank you to all who came out on Sunday to support such a wonderful cause.

2012 Heart Walk

About 2,000 people showed up for the annual 2012 Big Bend Heart Walk at Tom Brown Park on October 6th, hosted by the American Heart Association. Capital Health Plan was proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 3-mile Heart Walk, where funds are raised to fight heart disease and stroke. Our Capital Health Plan Walk Team had 64 members walk in their bright blue shirts and pose at the Victory Wall for a photo. Many participants decided to run the three mile route and stopped by our booth to rehydrate at our famous CHP Fruit Stand.

You, too, can combat heart disease and stroke by safely increasing your physical activity. Whatever your level of fitness, your health may benefit from increased physical activity. Talk to your doctor before becoming more active, especially if you haven't been very active or have health problems.

Run For Wakulla Springs

Capital Health Plan sponsored the fifth annual 5K Run benefiting the Friends of Wakulla Springs on May 15, 2010. This year’s race drew almost 400 registered participants. Capital Health Plan greeted finished runners with the CHP fruit stand. 

Silver Stars Awards Gala

Capital Health Plan was a sponsor of the Silver Stars Awards for the sixth year. The event recognized noteworthy seniors in our community. 

March of Dimes 2011

CHP was a large participant in this year's March of Dimes walk Capital Health Plan marketing staff supported the March of Dimes with our fruit stand. The event was held at TCC, a new location due to the construction for Cascades Park. There were 94 CHP employee participants, the highest participation ever for this event!

Springtime 10K

As the presenting sponsor for the Springtime 10K, 5K and 1 Mile, Capital Health Plan was present at the finish of the race with our sales table and fruit stand. There were over 2,000 participants for this year’s events held on April 2, 2010.
